21 February of the year is observed as our National :Mother Language Day. The importance of the day. in the political and national history of Bangladesh is inevitable. Because. on this day in 1952. many heroic souls of the soil like Salarn, Jabbar, Barkat, Safique and many others laid down their lies to establish 'Bangla' as the official language of the country. It was the day of , protest against the declaration of `Urdu' as the state language of the Then East Pakistan ? Now it is also observed as Language Martyred Day or Shaheed Day. On this day. People wake up early in the morning. They pan an a black badge to mark the day as a day of mourning for them. They walk to the Shaheed Minar on barefooted with flowers and wreaths .in hands. They offer flowers.
