I vividly remember the memory of the first day at my college. When I first entered the college, I was highly excited and hilarious. Attending a college was something great to me. The big campus with its high buildings, seemed to me something new and different. As I entered the first class, I was awfully surprised by the lecture of the teacher. It was our English class. I enjoyed the class very much. The teacher was taking the class thoroughly in English. It proved something unique about my college teacher. The other teachers also made lasting impressions on me. On the day, I attended five classes. We had to frequently change our rooms to attend another class. At 1:30 pm. there came the tiffin break. I went to the canteen and had some light food there. I also got introduced with my classmates. In the college, I liked the administration building most because looked something impressive and spectacular bearing the past heritage of the college.

Secondly, mills and factories throw their waste into the rivers and canals and thus pollute water. Thirdly, ignorant people pollute water by throwing human waste and filth from drains and unsanitary latrines. Water vehicles also pollute water by dumping oil, food waste and human waste. By drinking polluted water, we suffer from fatal diseases-and die. Water pollution may cause serious environmental disaster. To minimize water pollution, various measures may be taken. However, making people aware of the dangers of pollution is the best measure to reduce water pollution to an optimum level.

Visiting any historical place makes us familiar with our ancient heritage and cultural identity. I visited such a place few weeks back along with some of my close friends. It was the Buddhist vihara at Paharpur, Noagaon. It is located to the 200 kilometers northwest of Dhaka. We hired a micro bus and started from our college for Paharpur at  6.00 am. The journey was very enjoyable. On the micro bus, we took our breakfast. On reaching the spot, we took lunch in a local restaurant there. The food was very tasty and delicious. After having lunch, we started looking at the Buddhist Vihara which was founded in the 7th century by Dharma Paul. Recently it has been declared a world heritage site for its universal artistic value. Also known as somapur Mahavihara, it is the largest single Buddhist monastery in the Indian sub-continent. There are 198 rooms (kuthri), inside the stone wall of the rooms there are 63 statues of Hindu and Buddhist deities. It is a square building including 177 residential rooms around. The Buddhist vihara bears our ancient religious and cultural heritage. The monastery city represents a unique artistic achievement of our ancient people. I came to learn that the place was ideally an intellectual centre from the 7th century unto the 17th century. My visit to this place opened my inner eyes and gave me an insight into our ancient heritage. I surveyed the whole area with a sense of awe and wonder. We started our return journey at 6:00 pm and reached Dhaka at 10:30 pm. It has been really a comfortable as well as enjoyable journey.
